Green economy, organic environments and healthy people

The 28th National Pesticide Forum  

  • Paul Winchester, MD, professor of clinical pediatrics Indiana University School of Medicine and author of the April 2009 study linking birth defects, pesticides and season of conception, will be presenting this and other cutting edge research at the Forum.

  • In 2009, Ontario, Canada banned the use of over 250 pesticide products (see banned ingredient list) for cosmetic purposes. Meet people from two of the organizations that fought to make this vision a reality. Jan Kasperski, CEO of the Ontario College of Family Physicians, and Theresa McClenaghan, executive director and counsel at the Canadian Environmental Law Association, will be speaking at the Forum.

  • Melinda Hemmelgarn, registered dietitian, investigative nutritionist, and award-winning "Food Sleuth" journalist who encourages people "think beyond their plates."

  • Jan Kasperski and Theresa McClenaghan, CEO of the Ontario College of Family Physicians and executive director of the Canadian Environmental Law Association, respectively, key players in the effort that banned lawn pesticide use in Ontario in 2009.

  • Jeff Moyer, Rodale Institute farm manager and former USDA National Organic Standards Board chair, will speak. Learn from the people who wrote the book (& magazine) on organic gardening and farming!

  • Renowned scientists, university researchers specializing in endocrine disruption, cancer, learning disabilities, and the link between birth defects
    and season of conception.

  • Local organic food experts, people from Northeast Ohio who are bringing fresh, organic food to the region and revitalizing vacant lots through organic community gardens.
