Support Beyond Pesticides Ohio

It is an exciting time for pest control reform. Please consider making a tax deductible donation so we can continue to build on our achievements that benefit the health and the environment for all greater Clevelanders and beyond.
Recently we have generated momentum in Shaker Heights and South Euclid. We educated and helped residents in their effort to get ordinances adopted banning lawn pesticides on all city owned grounds. In Shaker citizens presented the mayor and city council petitions signed by 500 residents supporting a pesticide ban. As a result, the city erected large signs at Shaker Lakes stating that these areas were pesticide-free zones. This is something to build on in order to get a full citywide ban. In South Euclid councilperson Marty Gelfand introduced an ordinance banning lawn pesticides on all city owned grounds and also school grounds. A number of citizens spoke in support of this ordinance and will be returning to participate at the next council meeting. Furthermore, BPOhio continues to assist the Cleveland Clinic and other major University Circle institutions in implementing their sustainable pest control programs for both their building interiors and grounds.

It all started in Cleveland.
Inspired by our pesticide reform achievements in Cleveland, cities and schools in New York state, Connecticut, Maryland, Maine and California have also banned pesticides on public property.
Indeed:
  • In 1987, Ohio became the first state to require the posting of “Stay Off The Grass” signs after commercial chemical lawn care applications.
  • In 1995, Cleveland Heights became the first city in the nation to ban lawn pesticides on their city, school and daycare center grounds.
  • In 2012, Cuyahoga county became the first county in the nation to ban pesticides on all county owned property.

We appreciate your support for our efforts to protect people (especially children and the chemically sensitive), pets, and the environment from toxic pesticides, and encourage you to make a tax-deductible donation to Beyond Pesticides Ohio.

Your support will help our community transition to non-toxic pest control practices for both indoor pest control and outdoors on lawns and playing fields. Indeed, through our Safe Lawn & Garden Campaign, people will learn that they do not have to rely on toxic herbicides to have healthy beautiful lawns.  For more information on our accomplishments and services, please read our website.

Beyond Pesticides Ohio is the only organization in the state that focuses exclusively on pesticide reform.  We have had tremendous success in educating the public and public officials about the hazards of conventional pesticides and also in providing non-toxic, cost-effective, organic alternatives.
